The story of The Librarian (attributed to Arcimboldo)

The Librarian is in the collection of Skokloster Castle in Sweden and is thought to be a portrait of Wolfgang Lazius, a humanist and historian who served the Holy Roman Emperors. Skokloster dates it to 1562, though it is more often dated to about 1566. It was brought to Sweden after the looting of Prague Castle in 1648. A scientific study published in 2011 concluded that it is a later copy of an original by Arcimboldo whose whereabouts are unknown.
