The story of A Regatta on the Grand Canal
The regatta is held during the Carnival season on the Feast of the Purification of the Virgin, with the Palazzo Balbi in the left foreground. By the 1860s the picture belonged to the Duke of Leeds; the National Gallery acquired it in 1929.
