The story of Mont Sainte-Victoire with Large Pine
Painted around 1887, the picture belongs to the series of views of Mont Sainte-Victoire that Cézanne painted throughout his career. It shows the mountain seen from Montbriand near Aix-en-Provence, with the railway bridge of the Aix-Marseille line over the Arc river valley at centre right. The canvas measures 67 x 92 cm and is owned by the Courtauld Institute of Art.
