The story of Composition VI
Composition VI was the result of 24 studies and took Kandinsky eight months to complete. He wanted to depict a flood, a baptism and the theme of destruction and rebirth. Gabriele Munter advised him to think of the German word Uberflut (flood), and he finished the painting within three days of that suggestion. It was his main entry for the First German Autumn Salon in Berlin in 1913.
