The story of Suprematist Composition: White on White
Malevich took the painting to Berlin in 1927, where it was shown at the Grosse Berliner Kunstausstellung, and left it with the architect Hugo Haring when he returned to Leningrad. It passed to Alexander Dorner at the Provinzialmuseum in Hanover in 1930 and was stored after the Nazis came to power. It was shown at the Museum of Modern Art in New York in 1935, and MoMA's acquisition was confirmed by agreement with Malevich's estate in 1999.
