The story of Plum Brandy

Plum Brandy, also known as The Plum (La Prune), is undated but thought to have been painted about 1877. It shows a woman alone at a café table, in a lethargic pose similar to that of the woman in Degas's L'Absinthe, though she looks more dreamy than depressed. It is in the National Gallery of Art, Washington, D.C.
