The story of La Parisienne

The model was the actress Henriette Henriot. Renoir showed the picture at the first Impressionist exhibition in Paris in 1874. It was bought in 1912 by the Welsh collector Gwendoline Davies, who bequeathed it to the National Museum of Wales, where it is known as 'the Blue Lady'.
