The story of Le Chahut

Le Chahut (The Can-can), dated 1889–90, represents a can-can at the Moulin Rouge. It was first shown at the 1890 Salon de la Société des Artistes Indépendants in Paris, where critics attacked it, and Symbolist critics discussed it widely. It once belonged to the Symbolist poet and critic Gustave Kahn and is now in the Kröller-Müller Museum in Otterlo.
