The story of The Bacchanal of the Andrians

Painted for Alfonso I d'Este's Camerino d'Alabastro in Ferrara, following Philostratus's Imagines. When Ferrara fell to the papacy in 1598 Cardinal Pietro Aldobrandini took the canvas to Rome; it later passed through the Ludovisi family to the Spanish crown and is now in the Prado. Rubens and other artists copied it.
