The story of The Death of Actaeon

Begun around 1559 and worked on mainly in the late 1560s, it was still unfinished in Titian's studio at his death in 1576. It passed through the collections of the Duke of Hamilton, Archduke Leopold Wilhelm, Queen Christina and the Orléans collection, and was bought by Sir Abraham Hume in 1798. The National Gallery acquired it in 1972.
