The story of The Fall of the Rebel Angels
The oak panel (117 by 162 cm, inv. 584) was long attributed to Hieronymus Bosch. Bruegel's signature was found beneath the frame in 1900. The picture draws on Revelation 12 and on Bosch's imagery, but makes the fall of the angels the main subject.
