The story of Monaco Monte-Carlo

Mucha designed this 1897 poster for the P.L.M. railway line between Paris and Monaco-Monte Carlo. It shows neither a train nor an identifiable scene of Monaco; instead a young woman in a kind of reverie is surrounded by swirling floral images that suggest the turning wheels of a train. It was printed by F. Champenois for the artistic poster series of the review La Plume.
