The story of Colonel Guy Johnson and Karonghyontye (Captain David Hill)

Guy Johnson, superintendent of the northern colonies of British North America, commissioned the double portrait in 1776 while in London to secure that appointment. He had sailed from Canada with Hill, a close friend. The British alliance with several Indian nations was a serious threat to the rebel colonists in the American Revolutionary War.
