The story of Summer's Day
Morisot painted Summer's Day after the birth of her daughter gave her renewed motivation to paint outdoors. It was shown at the Fifth Impressionist Exhibition in 1880, where critics praised her subtle use of colour, including cerulean blue and cadmium yellow.
