The story of Minerva Expelling the Vices from the Garden of Virtue

The Triumph of the Virtues, 160 x 192 cm, tempera on canvas, was the second painting Mantegna made for Isabella d'Este's studiolo, after Parnassus (1497). It shows a marsh enclosed by a tall fence ruled by the Vices, drawn as hideous figures with identifying labels; Minerva drives out Idleness and rescues Diana from a centaur symbolising lust, while Justice, Temperance and Fortitude float above.
